We are happy to announce that we have become an authorized Duradek waterproof PVC decking membrane installer. We went up to Auburn Washington in December of 2011 to do an eight hour training at their Northwest headquarters and we are now authorized to install the product in the Portland metro area. Duradek is the industry leader in waterproof deck membranes and we can now offer a ten year warantee on any 60 mil. Duradek we install. One great thing about Duradek besides it being the industry leader is that it comes in about twenty different colors. This is a very beautiful deck we built in the Boring area, it was a replacement for an old cedar deck. The decking material is a combination of Timbertech Earthwood Evolutions in Pacific teak and Pacific walnut colors. The main decking is the teak color and the border is the walnut color for a distinctive look. The railing is Fortress iron galvanized and powder coated railing. This is one of our favorite decking types because it is attractive, low maintenance, and comes with a fade and stain warantee. It is the first decking to actually have a fade warantee, traditional composites fade considerably in the first four months they are in the sun but not Earthwood Evolutions. This decking is capped with pure plastic which makes the outside harder so that it is more scratch resistant and Timbertech has come up with new technology which makes the amount of fade imperceptible. This is all around a great decking product and a very beautiful deck.

We are really excited about becoming authorized Duradek installers in the Portland Metro area. We think that PVC membranes are the best way to fully waterproof a deck and we expect to install many more of them in the future. Duradek is the industry leader for manufacturing PVC membranes used for waterproofing decks. The great thing about a waterproof deck besides it being low maintenance  and attractive is that it creates a dry area below. This lower area can be used as a living space or can just be for simple storage. Duradek comes with a ten year warantee when installed by a certified installation company such as ourselves and typically lasts two or three times longer than that. It has an easily cleanable yet non slip surface, can be used in commercial environments, and unlike some competitors who only have four colors, it comes in twenty different attractive colors. This project was a very small one on an apartment complex that had a rotten deck as a result of an improperly routed dryer vent. We were hired by another contractor who was in charge of doing the dry rot repair so the only portion we did was the actual Duradek installation. That is why our pictures don’t show what the final project looked like after the siding was replaced. As you can see however, this Duradek membrane in classic sandstone color looks great and will last a very long time!

-Deck building: We do demolition of old decks and build new decks. We use all materials for the surface but the most common would be wood decks, cedar decks, composite decks, PVC decks, hardwood decks (Ipe, Mahogany, etc.), and waterproof decks (PVC membrane decks.) All framing is always pressure treated lumber.

-Deck design: Included in your free estimate is a 2-D rendering of the layout of the new deck, unless it is a square or rectangle in which case we will just list the dimensions in the proposal.

-Deck maintenance: We do cleaning, sanding, and staining of both cedar and hardwood decks.

-Deck repair: Sometimes the deck just needs a little TLC and doesn’t need to be replaced. In that case we will do whatever is necessary to bring it back to a safe and attractive condition.

-Railings: Not all decks have railings but there are various options available for decks that do. We do metal railings, wood railings, composite railings, aluminum railings, and stainless steel cable railings.

We use Crystalite.com  for our aluminum and stainless steel cable railings, Timbertech.com for our composite and PVC decks and railings, and Fortressiron.com for our galvanized and powder coated iron railings. Feel free to check out our galleries to see examples of past work we have done.

This small back porch was originally tongue and groove fir and was starting to rot. The customer wanted something low maintenance and long lasting so we went with Timbertech’s XLM decking which is made of pure PVC. The railing is a plastic capped composite called RadianceRail Express and the siding is Hardi siding which is a concrete embedded fiberboard. They will paint the siding to match the house and this will look like it was part of the original design. This is a deck that will last a lifetime!

This deck cover was designed by the owner who is also an architect. We built the deck and two cedar screens for him this summer and he was pleased with that so he had us back to do the deck roof as well. The wood is tight knot cedar, the bolts are stainless steel, and the roofing itself is galvanized corrugated steel. The next stage in his backyard remodel will be converting one of the windows to a door so he can walk directly out back without getting wet.

This house was a rental that had caught on fire. As a result, the house had major renovations done, one of which was a new deck. The customer decided to go with the tried and true Timbertech twin finish plank in the color of cedar. We used the Concealock hidden fasteners so no screw heads are seen and the Builderail with metal balusters for the railing. This is a nice deck that adds both value and curb appeal to this duplex.

This is a nice deck in NW Portland that we stained with a solid color Sikken’s stain. We also stained their hardwood furniture with Messmer’s hardwood formula stain. This was a big improvement over the old deck and will make the deck last much longer.
