This deck had multiple coats of improperly applied stain so it was not a candidate for a semi transparent stain. The customer decided to go with a solid color Cabot stain to hide inconsistencies in the appearance of the deck. We still stripped and brightened the deck beforehand so the stain would adhere properly. The final result was a much nicer looking deck.
